David Moore, Professor of English at the University of Montana, has distinguished himself as a literary critic with a specialization in Native American literature through his writing on such authors as Leslie Silko, Ray Young Bear, Gerald Vizenor, and Simon Ortiz. Author of the That Dream Shall Have a Name: Native Americans Rewriting America, Moore contributes significantly to this institute by providing a way for us to discuss difficult moral and ethical choices we make in cross-cultural contact, influence, and communication. Dr. Moore gave a lecture on Native American literature and the principles of sovereignty, community, identity, authenticiy, and irony from his book, and he participated in a panel on contemporary Native American liteary studies.
